Activity has been really down lately, and I know a lot of you are discouraged by this, I am too.
I know a lot of people are busy, I have been too lately.
That being said, I'm not sure what I can do to bring activity up. I have an idea, but I'm not sure how well you all are going to like it.
Everyone roleplaying characters at Redwall Abbey, you would be relatively unaffected by this, as the plot hasn't reached you yet.
Vermin and Salamandastron crew, this idea involves you more.
I think we need to do some recasting.
I haven't spoken to Zele lately, but they've not been active anywhere really. Without the Vermin leaders active, the vermin and Salamandastron threads don't move. I think it'd be best to recast our warlord, and start fresh in those threads. A fresh start might inspire others to come back, and hopefully move things along.
It is generally expected that those with key positions be able to be fairly active. Though I would love all of you to be active.
I don't love this idea, but it might be what is best. What is your input on things?

From observation, there are a lot of extremely powerful characters around, other than the warlord and the lord of Salamandastron. I'm a bit concerned that godmoding might ensue eventually. Even Gulo the Savage wasn't invincible. No Redwall character is bullet proof.
Nothing is happening in the woods last I checked. It's been several weeks since I've visited this forum. I have no idea what has gone on since last I was here.

If we do end up having to restart things (and even if we don't) several characters might be asked to tone it down a little. I know exactly who this message pertains to. Edit: I do believe there is already a post somewhere regarding powerful characters. If I weren't on mobile I would find it.

Well, I would very much like to keep going with In the Face of Unforeseen Circumstances. I understand we all have busy lives and I'm OK with that, knowing from personal experience. Let life be your first priority, and let writing fall somewhere else down the line.
Now that I've gotten that off my chest, back to my RP: Garkul PoisonFang is the most important element here. I've never created a severe narcissistic villain before, and I don't want him to die before I get a chance to play him out (which will be pretty much be a fun riot considering his aforementioned nature). Also, Jared and Madeline will be doing a heck of a lot more than just getting caught in the rain. I plan to have them run into some problems as well, some of which involve Jared tapping into that warrior spirit of his as a means of self-defense.
Garkul and Co. never reach Mossflower. As to why, I'm still fleshing that out, but I don't want them to land in Salamandastron if there's too much activity there. I don't plan to have them show up in the Fire Mountain until the Story Arc begins.
Thoughts, anyone? And do we have plans to continue with Mossflower MasterChef at all?

Jared, I wouldn't worry about Garkul's storyline being in jeopardy, he's not the main warlord and therefore this really has no effect on him unless he plans to meet up with the main horde at all.
As for Mossflower MasterChef, I believe it is Beeky's turn for that. I hope it will continue.

I feel like this might be a good idea, but I can't honestly say I know enough about running a forum to know for sure? I think it would probably be good, as long as you PM people to give them some notice a few days to a week ahead of time or something, and don't just do it suddenly/without warning.
I'm also thinking I'd like to figure out another way to get Dmitri into the main RP, either by inviting someone else to have their character find him in the thread I started, or joining/starting a different one, since the person whose character was going to find him I think hasn't been on since I posted the thread... And I also don't have Merry in the main RP yet, whoops.
As for the MasterChef thread, I'm sorry I've kept you all waiting! I think it's 'cause I was so busy and everything, and then when I got back, I remembered I had to figure out stuff about him for this AU and everything that I had forgotten and just got kind of overwhelmed (I was getting kind of overwhelmed by a lot of things for a while there, mostly off the forum I mean). I'm gonna try to get a post there up tonight, or maybe tomorrow--if I'm not able to by then, though I hope/think I will, then maybe it would be best for me to just go ahead and pull out of it so you all don't get held up more. I'd feel bad about it, but in the long run it'd probably be easier to deal with than always waiting for me. That's just a "just in case" though, I think I'll be able to jump in now that things are calmed down, and it's really just getting a first post in that's the hard part (so continuing from there should be fine).

I did PM the warlord about a month ago, asking about activity and such but it did not change anything, and they haven't been online in a few days (I follow them on tumblr too) so if I do message them again, who knows when it will be taken care of, and if it will even change anything.
As far as the issue that was brought up regarding all these super strong characters, I am aware of it and will probably PM those people to tone it down a little bit, I do see where it is going to become a problem.
As for Dmitri, We can work that out. Someone active might be interested in talking to him, I know I could always have my Otter at Redwall come across him if no one else steps up, not that I'd mind at all!! I love Dmitri so far based on his profile.
And I understand being overwhelmed.

Margorr, you know I'm with you on this.
I think recasting is honestly a necessity in not only the role of the warlord, but maybe even more. The main Redwall plot thread has been dead because of our lack of an Abbot to help drive it. I'm not saying we can't function without an Abbot, but I feel their presence would help guide us through it all.
It would be a shame to have to restart in Salamandastron, what with how cool it's been, but I think that it's the only way we can fulfill our hopes of the plot idea we have...
Also, this may just be me complaining, but I feel there are becoming too many characters on the forum in general to keep track of. I know everyone wants to do different things and I support it - all the little side threads of interaction have been fun to read! But in order for the plot to go along, it might be best to establish like... some main characters? And dedicate certain threads to plot-progression for the story, and delegate the rest as side-development for individual characters. Maybe we could put a symbol/word in the title of the threads to signify which type they are...?

I'm guilty of the too many characters thing *sweats*. I think people with a lot of characters (Like me) get really excited and want to have different role. I was okay with letting people have as many characters as they want, because I felt like really the ones that would be more important to the plot/to the user would take the lead eventually, with some other fillers.
I do agree with you on the Abbot as well, I've actually seen them on tumblr lately so we can actually have a talk with them, and get their opinion too, but I am not against recasting the Abbot if it comes to that.
I do believe we 100% need a new warlord though.
While it is a shame to restart the roleplays, it'll give other people a chance to get in and maybe really start getting involved and bringing in characters maybe they hadn't before, and start moving the plot along.
To be fair though, neither the Vermin or Salamandastron threads got very far, though Salamandastron did get much further than vermin, we can restart it and tweak it so that we still have the hares missing as planned, just maybe start with The Generals return or something, which kind of makes Salamandastron move a little faster, to make up for lost time.
As far as marking plot significant RP threads, I think a little symbol next to them is great! That way we and the members know something really important is going on in there. Helps with Organization too.

I'm all about organization, lol.
And yes! Getting the General involved earlier on will also help create a sense of urgency, of making the vermin threat seem real, because people have already been killed, and whatnot. It might make everyone more interested in pressing forward to stop them? Psychological mumbo jumbo and all that.
And really by all means, I want people to make as many characters as they please! It's just hard to keep track of them all, to determine how they affect the plot and whatnot. I'd recommend, not require, people to just personally determine which one or two characters might be their "main" characters, to themselves, to help them feel a little more organized? For example, Dianthus is my personal "main" character. However, Mildred is most likely more necessary to the plot than he is, so I'm going to give her priority in my roleplaying. My dibbun is really just there to lighten things up, if necessary, and to provide the presence of a child to add to the necessity of protecting Redwall?
That's just how I've been looking at things, personally...
So many threads with so few replies in each individual thread have made things seem a bit muddled to me, and that overwhelms me a little, lol.

I can see where you are coming from!! I think it might be a good idea to have people determine their mains.
For example, my main characters would be Cyphel and Margorr. The others are really so I have a presence elsewhere (and I also really wanted a LP Hare)

I know I haven't been very active lately, but I'd be fine with a fresh start. Maybe Ferox would be able to jump into the story sooner then (they definitely won't be the main warlord, but they may be able to get more into the story). If Ferox doesn't fit in anywhere, they could just be a side character for OC rps if that's better.
My main characters would be Taurian and Ferox (or Hiacynth).

*shows up late to a party with a complete box set of the Madagascar movies* What?
Yeah, I'm mostly in agreement with all the above points mentioned. It'd be a darn tootin' (rootin' shootin') shame to more or less scrap all those plots that were just starting to get in motion before they stopped, but it is somewhat necessary with certain characters no longer being around. The Salamandastron aspect of it doesn't apply to me so much (I've been meaning to make a character there, but that might overload me a bit too much, y'feel?) but I would like to get the vermin plot moving again. If we are establishing mains, I'd gotta go with Corenlius and Claudius (that sounds like the name of a sitcom lol). They're the two most important to the plot I feel. I recently joined another big rp site that's updated fairly regularly, so that'll probably give me the kick I need to stay consistent. There might be ups and downs with exams and studing and stuff though, but I'll make sure to mention when. It'd be nice to get the place up and running again

Just offical end to this thread that since a lot of people seem in favor of recasting, that's what we are going with.
