Oblivious to the conversation, Aiken fought the last rat. He was a little taller than the culpeo and his grey fur was matted with sweat. The two beasts clawed at each other like savages, snarling and bleeding in one or two places. Aiken was thrown down to the floor and his foe was ready to finish him when he pushed him back with his footpaws. The rat fell and banged his head on the floor, knocking him unconscious.
Aiken stood up, panting and wiping a bleeding scratch on his cheek. He looked to see how his "partner" was doing. She was sitting happily, resting her back against the bar and giggling a little. The bar erupted in cheers from everybeast. Aiken smiled, unsure of what else to do.

Xia by then is breathing hard, having disposed of her own last rat by bonking him across the head with the but end of her wreapon. She raises her glaive in the air, shouting, "Wooo! Now this is my kind of tussle!" st8ll breathing hard the vixen leans upon her weapon for support. She nods her thanks to her fellow fox before looking for the mice. "Now where did my little fuzzy employers scamper off to? I swear if these rats scared them off I will be so very cross with th- oh! Hey! Let go of my employers you miniture tiger wannabe!"
The wild cat only laughs. "Good show! Who knew the barkeeper was able to fight!" a round of cheers go up around the tavern for the tod. His grip tightens about Dixie Blossums shoulder. "What say you two, maybe we should grill up some mousy steaks and make this dinner and show eh?"
Another laugh escapes the wild cats lips. Growling in frustration the small mouse reaches for something at her belt. There is a quick flash of metal and the cat howls in pain as the mouse stabbs his paw with a small knife. As the beast takes a step back the mouse turns quickly, slashing the feline across the face. "No one is going to eat /me/." she practically snarls. She waves the bloody knife at the stoats muzzle. Holding his paws up the beast quickly releases the heavy set mouse.
The tavern has gone silent. There was a certain line that has been crossed. It was one thing to start a fight, it was one thing to hold a beast captive and threaten to eat them; that was all in good clean fun...for vermin anyway.
But to have some snot nosed /rodent/ kill the mood by drawing the blood of one of their fellow vermin?
This was not going to go unpunished.
"Mousy...get behind me. Now." Xia says with the first seriousness she has shown all night. "Fuz tail, you too." she says to her fellow impromtu warrior as the tavern begins to press in on all of them. "When you get to the door, head to your left. Get to the woods and keep running..." she says in general to all of them.

Aiken rounded up Dixie and Pumpkin and ushered them to the door.
"Go!" he hissed "I need something before I leave, we'll catch up with you two later."
With that, he shoved the mice out into the night. He bounded back to the bar and hopped over the countertop. Reaching down below, he wrapped his paw around a cutlass. It's blade shone like the moon on a clear night and it's handle was wrapped with a blood red cloth of some kind. He leaped back towards the crowd and stopped next to his companion, already brandishing her pole arm.
"Everyone calm down. She's just a dumb mouse, she didn't know what she was doing."

The mice are out side before they even know whats going on. "Wot? H-hey! You can't just..." Dixie begins.
"I think they CAN, Blossum. Now come on!" he grabs her by the paw and leads her away from the tavern.
Meanwhile the vixen steps next to the barkeep. Her glaive swings dramatically over her head before coming down into a defensive position. "Now you lot are probibly thinking, are these foxes too tired to continue fighting? To be honest in all this confusion I dont rightly know myself. So you scurvey punks...do you feel lucky?"
In the back corner the wild cat gets to his feet, a stream of blood running down a cut to his face. In his anger he flips over a table with one paw, sending it flying across the room.
"Well, nice knowing you mate." Xia turns and runs for the door, leaving a small puff of fur lingering in the air from her departure.

Aiken stood like a deer in headlights, as his companion fled. He smiled sheepishly and, clutching his sword, dashed after his companion and the two mice. His footpaws crushed fallen leaves as the crisp wind blew through his fur. He was quickly coming up towards the cross fox and put on another burst of speed.
"Nice knowing you too!" he yelled, as he passed her
Up ahead were the two mice, his possible future employers. It looked like the heavier one was slowing down...

The party travels for a what seems like an eternity. They keep running until the sounds of angry beasts fall away. Deep in the woods the beasts come to a stop, breathing deeply, especially the pumkin shaped mouse named Pumpkin. "Well, that was fun."
Taking a moment to catch her own breath Xia slumps against a tree. The mouse scowls, "I hope your misserable hide is worth all the trouble you caused."
"I'll have you know my miserable hide is worth every penny." Xia sticks out her tongue to the beast. "And you lot were the ones who caused that little ruckus, everything was fine until you slashed the feline."
"He was threatening to /eat/ me." Dixie says dangerously.

Plopping down and resting his back against a tree, Aiken scoffed. He wiped at the beads of sweat on his forehead.
"He was only kidding around, just messing with you. It was obvious you weren't from here and he decided to tease you a little. All in good fun, for him at least. Hopefully, those beasts were so drunk that they'll have forgotten all about this incident by morning"
He looked at the mice, eyes showing just a hint of exhaustion from working a fourteen hour shift, fighting half a dozen rats, and sprinting through the woods. The cut on his cheek had stopped bleeding, a medium sized clot forming on his skin. His jerkin, brown as dirt and tattered, fluttered with the occasional breeze. His sandy coat was littered with bits of grime and he smelled slightly of sweat. He was lightly panting. What a pitiful sight.
"Now. Its best that you two go back to wherever you came from. Besides, wouldn't dear old mum and dad be worried sick when they find out their children had vanished into the night?"

(Oh blast...has it really been a month since I posted here? I iz so sorry D8)
"He threatened. To. EAT me." the mouse reiterates. At the mention of their parrents Dixi only turns her head to one side, "They would deserve to worry..."
"Dixi..." Pumkin begins. He is interupted as Xia lets out a stiff yawn. "Not to be the barer of bad news but, we need some place to stay tonight and the we just fled the only civilization for MILES.
"Actually we might be able to help with that." the rotund mouse rubs the back of his neck. "We have a camp set up near by. Its not far. You are both welcome to come. It...its the least we can do after you saved our lives."

(haha, no harm done friend! we've all been pretty busy :^) )
At the thought of a place to sleep, Aikens ears perked up a little.
"Thank you. I'd be happy to take you up on that offer."
He stood up and stretched his arms.
"I'd be happy to find some food in the morning if desired."
((sorry for the short response))
