Appearance Orbel is a shrew of average height, though her build is broad and she is fairly well-muscled. She has bristly dark brown-grey fur that is usually unkempt and dirty, with cream and white fur on her belly and muzzle. Her tail is short and stout like most shrews', and its base is the same colour as her fur, and grows to a lighter pink long the middle to the tip. Her paws are hairless, and she is missing two toes on her left hindpaw.
Apparel Same as all Gousim shrews, Orbel is never seen without her headband, which is blood red in colour with yellow stitching from where it once tore clean down the centre. She wears a red tartan kilt with half of it draped over her left shoulder. Under this she wears a loose, white linen shirt. Orbel has a sturdy belt with a silver clasp, and the scabbards of her rapiers hang from it on her hips. Just to the right of the belt clasp hangs a puch which she uses to store small, important items and objects, and to the left she wraps her slingshot and the sheath for her knife.

Personality Unlike other Log-a-Logs, Orbel retains the aggressive nature of the average shrew. She prefers to keep to her own kind, and being by herself or with her closest shrews. She is not much of a public speaker, preferring to give orders to the other logboat captains. Though she acknowledges the Guosim's old alliance to Redwall and Salamandastron, she is hesitant to ally with them if problems should arise. However, once she has pledged her and the Guosim to a cause, Orbel will not go back on her word. Orbel rarely takes a while to trust newcomers, and has no problem withholding information from others. She rarely shows affection in public, but can be very romantic when alone with her partner.

History Orbel's grandparents, Folas and Mella, left the Guosim for a life along the bank. Though they were members with no special rank, this was not taken too well by the Guosim, however as they settled along one of Mossflower's many rivers, they still saw the Guosim on occasion. Seasons past and the eldest of their offspring, Jora, inherited their little riverside home. Her mate, Barad, also came from the Guosim, and together they had two children, Orbel and Thil. Now the Guosim were on- more or less- friendly terms with the riverside shrews, and often stopped at the house.
Seasons passed and the two shrews grew up to become young and rash warriors, taught by their parents. Thil preferred a simple short-sword over a typical shrew rapier, and so Orbel inherited both her grandparents' weapons and learnt to wield them together. One Summer, the Guosim had returned to visit and were making use of their time settled in the bank to forage for supplies. The Log-a-Log at the time was young, around Orbel's age and the two had struck up a friendship of sorts, which mostly including bickering and sparring. They were in the forest, looking for berries and other treats, when an adder struck from the bushes. Orbel knew her friend wouldn't survive the venomous bite, and instead attacked the snake with her two rapiers. Just as she finished it off, a band of Guosim shrews arrived on the scene, drawn by the death cry of their old leader. Guosim law at the time stated that the one who avenged the fallen Log-a-Log recieves the title, and though Orbel didn't want to leave her home, she refused to wrong her friend's memory.
