Full Name: Brigg
*Nick Name(s): None really, but I suppose someone might call him 'Briggy' or something fondly.
Gender: Male
Pronouns: He/Him
Age: 24, ish
Species: Rat
Appearance:
Brigg is a big fellow as far as rats go. He's on the tall side, with broad, strong shoulders and a square stance. His fur is a non-descript brown, fading to a creamy lighter shade on his belly and around his whiskers. Brigg holds himself with the air of someone who doesn't know quite how to handle their size; he is gentle in the extreme with his movements, ever afraid of accidentally hurting someone. His paws are marred with callouses and nicks from working.
For clothing, he wears simple linen shirts and vests, all stitched at home by his adoptive mother. He has a flat walking cap that he never goes without.
His most defining features are his kindly face and open expression. Looking at him, one can see clearly that he is no vermin.
Personality:
Brigg is a small and gentle soul despite his large stature. He will always attempt to do thing he views as bringing the least amount of harm to anyone. He is soft-spoken and nervous with his words, and seems to fumble them often. It can take awhile for his brain to catch up to what's going on around him; he's no quick wit. He tends to take jokes and sarcasm quite literally.
He is very fond of children, having grown up with lots of small siblings and cousins running about. 'Caretaker' would be a good word to describe him. Looking out for others is his self-ascribed purpose in life.
Brigg adores stories and music, but has never learned to read or play music. He will sit and listen to others for hours if able to.
He's an incredibly hard worker, and is stoic in the face of difficulty. He faces trouble and hardship with determination and it takes a lot to defeat his strong will. He's not one to give up or let others down.
Allies: His family, though he's been separated from them. He is still alone in the world other than them, for now.
Enemies: None specifically at this time.
Strengths:
Physically, Brigg is quite strong. He has muscles born of years of hard labor on the family farm.
Other strengths of his are his determination, his work ethic, his gentle and loving nature, and his kindness.
He is very knowledgeable about gardening and growing things, and is a decent cook. He's experienced at reading weather patterns and knowing how the seasons affect the growth of things. He is very good with children and the elderly.
Weakness:
Brigg is not terribly bright by the normal standards. It feels to him often like everyone is thinking in circles around him and he can never quite keep up. He is illiterate and unschooled in maths and other basic educational concepts. He doesn't quite grasp jokes or sarcasm, tending to take things literally.
He is not a violent beast; if put in a difficult position where he was required to fight somebody, he would not have an easy time of it. On top of that, he is clumsy and unsure of his own size. He could probably get in one uncertain punch in a fight before he was overwhelmed by an opponent with even a modicum of fighting experience.
*Goal: For now, Brigg is just looking for a new home.
Background:
Brigg was orphaned in Mossflower wood as a babe and was rescued by a family of mice. He grew up on their farm, loved as if he were one of their own children. He had seven other siblings of varying ages, and was looked to as the 'big brother' of the group, since he of course grew far taller and stronger than the rest. For a long while, Brigg thought himself a mouse; he had never known anything different. It was only when he was grown that he spoke with his parents about why he was so different looking from the others.
His relationship with his adoptive father was very close. They worked together all day, every day, keeping the family fed and cared for.
Things went terribly wrong when a vermin raid on the neighboring farmhouses and village led others to rebel at the idea of a rat living among them. Brigg's family tried to protect him from the prejudices of the others, but in the end Brigg decided to leave to make their lives easier and safer. He stole away in the night, determined that his family shouldn't suffer from his being there.
He has yet to find a permanent place to stay, and things are hard for him right now. He has never been without a roof over his head before.
*Quirks: I think these were mostly gone over in detail in his personality/strengths/weaknesses section.
*Weapons: Brigg? With weapons? Not likely. It'd have to be a pretty desperate situation for him to hurt somebody, and even then he wouldn't really know how to other than trying to use his size to his advantage.
*Other things that may be important: Brigg is gay and homoromantic, but having never had much contact with creatures outside his family, I'm not sure he's fully aware of this.
