Full Name: Seward Bramblesong Merryfeather
*Nick Name(s): Merryfeather, or Merry (and possibly “Ramblesong” behind his back)
Gender: Demiboy
Pronouns: Most commonly he/him, but perfectly happy with any
Age: Youngish adult (about mid-20s)
Species: Wren
Appearance: Merryfeather is a chubby little orb of brown feathers, with a stubby tail pointed to the sky and a thin, slightly curved beak. His breast and stomach are a little lighter and more creamy-grayish than above, and lightly streaked. Above his eyes are little eyebrowish stripes of a slightly lighter brown. He likes to wear little decorations, and is quite good at weaving himself little crowns of flowers and vine and leaf bracelets, so he’s usually wearing some kind of fanciful adornment.
Personality: Cheerful and boisterous, Merry certainly deserves his name. He fancies himself not only a bit of a hero, but first and foremost a bard. Using the natural singing abilities of his kind (and the loud voice), Merry is always ready with a song, and happy to compose new ones. He’s terribly fond of stories as well, telling tales to all who will listen of heroic deeds from far and wide, including his own (though the truth of these tales is highly questionable--while he rarely intentionally lies, he’s extremely prone to exaggeration, and some might notice the same stories changing drastically from telling to telling). Unfortunately, sometimes he can be a little much, and often doesn’t pick up on cues that he’s annoying someone.
However, as much as he loves adventure, he’s really most fond of the comfortable sort of “adventure” that comes with somewhere nice to sleep and lots of good food to eat, and will happily punctuate his usual energy with some lazy lounging. He’s happiest around others, making friends and finding audiences. He also has a great fondness for pretty things, and the wonders of the world around him.
Allies: Anyone that seems friendly and doesn’t give him a reason to consider them an enemy
Enemies: Anything that wants to eat him, haters of music and joy, and those that would harm the innocent
Strengths: Sings very sweetly, and can make his voice VERY loud when he wants. He’s quite fast, has very good eyesight, and can fly. He also has seemingly boundless energy sometimes, and is stronger than one might think by looking at him.
Weakness: Doesn’t always know when to STOP singing, or talking. He also doesn’t always know when to take things seriously, and gives the impression of not understanding the full significance of graver situations sometimes--almost like he thinks he’s just in a story. This can lead him to recklessness. He isn’t very good in a direct fight, especially against large creatures, and a lot of this is due to the difficulty of holding any kind of deadly weapon to assist him.
*Goal: To sing and eat as much as possible and just be full of joy and spread it to everyone else.
Background: Hatched fourth in a clutch of five, Merry grew up happily with his brothers and sisters until one by one, they all left the nest (first literally, then figuratively). All of them returned to visit occasionally, and eventually four of the five decided to settle back down nearby to the very nest they were raised in, and stick together as a family--all except Merryfeather, who fancied he hadn’t had quite enough adventure yet, and preferred to continue traveling. He still returns now and then, though, popping in to enjoy the bustling and squabbling of his beloved family before heading back out onto the road.
*Quirks: Merryfeather LOVES flowers. He’s very fond of nature in general, but flowers in particular. He sings about them a lot.
*Weapons: Claws and beak, occasionally dropping stones from high up or clutching a jagged rock (or knife even, if he’s provided with one, though he’d have a harder time with it) in one foot to lash out with. Mostly he’ll try to fly away to avoid combat.
*Other things that may be important: He’s a Eurasian wren of course, but I’m playing him with a little flair of Bewick’s, since I’m most familiar with them--though I’m pretty sure their behavior is extremely similiar anyway (I know the Eurasian wren used to be considered the same species as the Pacific wren, another one we have around here, but I haven’t had as much opportunity to observe them).
