(( OOC: Man I hope I'm doing this right; I'm just slapping down what comes to mind. : ' D Please tell me if I need to make any changes or anything of that sort! ))
The forest of Maraul was quiet in the early morning light that filtered through the multitude of trees littering the vast landscape. A bit too quiet for anyone who knew the islands well, but for now peace was needed in these dark times. Food was becoming more scarce as of late, especially with more and more natural disasters causing havoc and rumblings amongst members of the hoard. The one who had numbing fangs seemed the most snappish, though there was no reason for him to simply bully just because he was ill tempered..was there?
..Who knew with those kinds of creatures; maybe they were simply too hard to figure out for the moment. It would require more careful observation, that was for sure.
Despite the stillness of the forest, birds twittered and chirped their waking songs, not seeming disturbed by a dark figure sitting up in the higher boughs of one of many coniferous trees about the area. Tawny coloured eyes roved the area as if searching for something but nothing came to mind..at least for now. Their thoughts were straying once again, not staying in one place like they wanted and seemed to break like an early morning fog vanishing in the first mornings light.
Upon first glance, one would think they were looking at wraith or a shadow of some kind but looking closer that wasn't that case in the slightest. Dark brown, almost black fur blended in easily with the bark they casually leaned against, a tattered black cloth tied securely around the neck as if to ward off prying eyes from that specific location on their body. Though the animal in question was small, there was a no nonsense look in those syrup coloured eyes as they flicked to a branch nearby where a bird was settling down to preen.
A small gurgle brought their attention back to more important matters; what was there for food around here? Reaching into a small belt tied about their waist the sable shuffled around for a few moments before drawing out a piece of paper and a charcoal stick. Making a few marks here and there they then decided to go and find some food no matter what it was; maybe there would be a fishing place nearby.
The last time they had tried to fish hasn't gone well, but while climbing the tree to sleep the night before they had spotted some tasty greens nearby that announced there was a place to fish nearby, so they might as well try it out.
Slipping quietly from the branch as to not disturb the still singing birds, Silt made their way down towards where they thought the water edge was. Hopefully it was a stream and not salt water this time around; that had been a nasty shock and a lesson all at once.
Hopefully this time, they would check themselves before diving head first into the waters and actually paying attention to what surrounded them instead of relying on their stomach.
