So this one I actually came up with for one of those survival contest things a couple of months back. Never submitted it.
With a little adaption major modifications, I figured it could probably work here as well.
So here she is.
Full Name: Valetamine of Lemand
Nick Name(s): Val, Bozica Rata (formerly)
Gender: Female
Pronouns: she/her
Age: 21
Species: Ferret
Appearance: Last extant member of a now otherwise extinct line of pure ferrets, with the same white fur and red eyes that one would expect. She wears a striking red outfit, now rather faded, created from various fabrics and clothes looted from the victims of her fallen army, with a dark red skirt and her sword and scabbard about her waist.
Personality: The ferret has an interesting personality. Smug, yet polite, owing to her upbringing, friendly to those she knows and likes, but ruthless to her enemies and any real or perceived threats. For her it is always necessary in discussion to be correct and to correct others, and her opinion is the only one she is ever willing to entertain.
Rapid success raised her ego to tremendous heights, and colossal failure hasn't quite sent it toppling down yet.
In her constant struggle to maintain whatever image or respect she thinks she has, Valetamine has mastered the art of hiding her fears and emotions. Threats and insults are laughed away, as are pleas for help, forgiveness, or mercy. When brought to face her actions and mistakes, she shows no regret or remorse, and only watches on, fuming, when friends or allies abandon her for them.
Allies: Varies dramatically with the situation and circumstances
Enemies: Likewise
Strengths: Competent fighter, confident, ruthless.
Weakness: Inexperienced, headstrong, and a poor leader.
Goal: Fame, fortune, respect. First of all, survival.
Background: Born of Southsward nobility, the house of Lemand, Valetamine's childhood was characterized by strict parenting, martial traditions, and the ever-present danger of a slave or serf revolt, as the family kept vast numbers of both and treated them harshly.
It wasn't too long before that fear became a reality. The woodlanders who worked the land rose up one winter, and so fought their oppressors all across the fields and into the Lemand Keep, a great stone tower, where the family and their remaining guards barricaded themselves inside. The fighting there did not last long before fire started in the lower levels and ate away at the wooden interior, slowly burning its way to the top, turning the tower into a funeral pyre for all those inside.
All but Valetamine, who survived only by climbing to the top of the tower's chimney, and only just managing to do so without being overcome by the smoke of the blazes down below. Fur stained black by the soot, and so thus hidden against the darkness or the scorched remains of the dead tower, she could only wait, hidden away, until the woodlanders left and it was safe for her to leave.
A few months of miserable wandering would eventually lead the ferret to cross paths with a coastal tribe of stupid, superstitous vermin, none of whom had ever seen an albino ferret before. The tribe's seer was quick to capitalize on this, lauding her sudden appearance as a incarnation of their goddess of war, Bozica Rata, and using it to take power over the tribe. Valetamine adapted to the situation quickly, playing the role effectively. In no time her influence exceeded that of the seer, who, realizing his error, attempted to call her out as a fraud. The ferret retaliated by slicing his head off.
With an army of fanatics now behind her, the last of the Lemand line set out back to her family's former fields. The land was looted of all it's wealth and produce, and all the former serfs killed save one, sent to spread far and wide the news of her conquest.
Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, this was where her luck ran out. In the same season as her victory, the surrounding villages gathered together and destroyed her army, her managing once more to only just barely escape with her life.
Alone and defeated as before, the ferret is wandering again, wary of those behind her that may wish to complete the cycle of revenge started all those seasons ago.
Quirks: Prone to sudden coughing fits, a long-term effect of all the smoke and dust inhaled from her time trapped in the blazing keep.
Weapons: A fine broadsword, razor sharp and expertly crafted.
