Full Name: Father Cornelius
Nick Name(s): 'Papa', 'Grandpa', or 'Nuncle Corny'-resident dibbuns
Gender: Male
Pronouns: He/Him
Age: 55-65, human mentality
Species: European Badger
Appearance: Standard badger body; big, powerfuly-built, rather square/rectangle shaped. Fur is a light brown and his legs and stripes are darker (erythristic colour morph). Tends to not wear anything (rather like Christopher Denise's Constances) except in very cold winters or other such situations.
Personality: Being the resident Abbey Badger, Cornelius is very protective and loving towards all the creatures inside it; most noticeably the Dibbuns of course, whom he spends most of his time educating, cleaning, scolding, and caring for. He is distinctly less fierce than his predecessors, and tends to rely more on his gentle voice and skills in persuasion than a harsh growl and the threat of force to get the babies to behave. He is enormously empathetic and feels like he must reach out to any other creature in need, despite the potential danger of the situation.
Allies: Redwallers, Guosim shrews, the Lord of Salamandastron and the Long Patrol, (most) residents of Mossflower, etc.
Enemies: TBA
Strengths: Natural power, Wisdom, Protectiveness.
Weakness: Softness, dislike for violence.
Background: Born and raised in a cosy set somewhere south of Mossflower, Cornelius grew up well aware of the dangers of the surrounding area; slaving was once more rife in that part of the country, but fortunately, they never dared come near Cornelius's parents. One day when they were long gone, however, Cornelius heard a knock on his door, and there stood two weasels, a fox, and a very sorrowful looking young squirrel. The slavers offered to sell their captive to him, and Cornelius, his heart going out to the squirrel, readily agreed; but instead of forcing the child to do hard labour and serve him dutifully, he gave her a bowl of soup, set up a warm bed for her, and read her his old favourite bedtime story until she fell asleep. From then on, Cornelius would actively seek out the slavers and buy as many as he could from them, and always managed to weasel in the ones he couldn't exactly afford (often through intimidation). Unbeknownst to the slavers (who surely would have killed him if they ever found out), he set up a sort of refuge in his parent's old sett, where he cared for the unfortunate young creatures, in some cases helping to reunite them with their families (though in others this was impossible).
Then one day, a group of very different creatures came knocking on his wooden door, and quickly made themselves known as friends from someplace called 'Redwall', on a quest to recover some of their stolen offspring ((ripped straight out of Mattimeo I know)). Cornelius guided the Redwallers to the vermin fortress then went back to his sett to await their return. When they did, all other young creatures in tow, Cornelius and all the ones still living in his sett, went with them to Redwall, where he became the resident badger guardian.
Weapons: Natural strength; paws, weight, and teeth, though would hate to ever use them.
