Full Name: Lieutenant Beauregard Speedwell
*Nick Name(s): Beau
Gender: Male
Pronouns: He/Him/His
Age: mid 20s
Species: Hare
Appearance:
Beau comes from a family well known amongst the Long Patrol for their silver fur. He is of average height for a male hare, but quite well toned from the rigorous training for young officers of the Patrol. He has deep blue eyes that look almost too kind for an officer. He has a strong jawline. He has a wry, slightly crooked smile that always looks like he is in on some inside joke. He has one small scar above his left eye from a vermin blade he got as a galloper.
Personality:
Beau is very new to being an officer, so he usually does his best to impress his higher ups while still trying to maintain order over his detachment. He is a very compassionate fellow, and is always ready to yell out his "Eulalia's" and charge to the rescue of any helpless goodbeast. An extremely loyal soldier, Beau is prepared to follow his General to Dark Forrest if he thought that's where the Patrol should march. Although a bit naive, and easily flustered by pretty hairmaids, his heart is always in the right place. Beauregard is desperate to prove himself to be a capable junior officer to the senior officers and the Badger Lord.
Allies: The Long Patrol wot wot, Redwall Abbey
Enemies: Vermin
Strengths: His ability with his sabre, his loyalty, his ability to improvise and change tactics, boxing, scouting
Weakness: Naive, young, somewhat reckless
*Goal: Protect Salamandastron, serve the General and Badger Lord, find his sister
Background:
Beauregard was born on the mountain of Salamandastron, and trained from a young age to become a Long Patrol Hare. He took to his studies quite quickly, and soon became well known among the Patrol for his dedication to the study of swordplay, particularly with his duelling sabre. His father, being a retired Colonel, expected nothing less than the best from his twin children. Though when Beau was around 15, his sister disappeared from the mountain in the middle of the night, after she had talked about leaving the military life and wanting to wander the countryside and start a peaceful farm, despite what their father wanted. When she left, Colonel Buckthorn Speedwell clamped down hard on young Beau, and really pushed him in his training.
Since his father passed, Beau wishes he had the opportunity to find his sister. But he also does not want to disappoint the General, who always looked up to and admired. As a newly promoted officer, due in no small amount to his reputation with his sabre, Beau hopes to use this chance to prove himself to the Patrol, the General, and to himself. Although not wanting to be as highly ranked as a Brigadier, he hopes one day to become a trusted officer of the Badger Lord and of his commanding officer. Although the senior officers talk very well and often of the exploits of his father, who was quite popular and jovial during his days in the Patrol, Beau does not have many fond memories of his father, who acted more the commanding officer than the father, so he actually views the General in more of a fatherly way and would do anything to make him proud of him. He is frequently sent out in command of small scouting patrols, rather than taking part in major engagements.
*Quirks:
Has an unusually small appetite for a hare, sometimes talks things quietly out to himself to help him make sense of things.
*Weapons: Duelling sabre, small dagger, fists
*Other things that may be important: He is very dedicated to the art of the sword, and studies new techniques for his blade very regularly, even coming up with some techniques of his own.
