The fox awakens with a start, gpancing about the forrest as if he doesn't remember where he is. He pats himself down, head, neck, chest, belly, tail. With a sigh of relief the vulpine lays back down, rubbing his eyes, "Just a dream Baro...just a dream...your ok....your ok..."
The camp site was humble at best, comprised of only single blanket to sleep on and a small nap sack carrying all the foxes worldly items. What the fox had he mostly carried on his own person. A wool over coat to heep him warm and a leather vest to keep him fashionable. With his winter coatthe fox has a fluffier appearence, and despite being rather fleshy looking his belly grumbles with hunger.
He gets up, reaching for his napsack full of provisions.
He opens the bag and is shocked to see the head of a snake leaping for him out of his bag, snapping its jaws around the fox's waist and gobbling him down inba single bite...
_____
Baro Ermile wakes from his dream with a loud shout, brushing hot embers from from his hip and flank and putting out a small fire on his tail. He gets up patting himself down. This is the last time he sleeps so close to a fire. Looking over at his empty sack of provisions he decides it is also the last time he eats so much before going to bed.
Shaking the rest of the willies out his system the fox ruffles his ears and head fur. He glances out over the hillside his camp is located ontop of. From here he can see over the tree tops. Even in the early morning light he can make out a trio of camp fires in the far distance. The young fox cringes. They are closer than last night. Pulling his coat closer about him the fox puts out what is left of the fire.
He needed to get up early anyways. He has plenty of ground to cover and not a lot of time left to do it in.
The fox clutches his stomach as he walks, "And maybe pick up breakfast alone the way..."

Ginger Westbrook walked through Mossflower woods, lance in hand and using it as a walking stick. Though she and her brother were staying at Redwall until the vermin horde past, she would still sneak out early in the morning for walks. Who knows, maybe she's find something interesting.
She didn't have much on her; just the pouches dangling from her belt and her lance. Though there wasn't a trace of anyone in sight, her ginger-tipped ears were carefully listening for any stray sound.

Baro has the genes of a woodland fox but has the experience of a city slicker tried and true.
He grumbles as yet another tree branch smacks him in the face. "Blast it all..." the fox grmbles about trees, about woodlanders, about his own empty be-
The fox pauses, sniffing the air. He moves slowly, following his nose to the scent of wood pidgeon. He finds the bird dead, tacked to a tree in the forrest.
Tilting his head to one side he rubs his chin, "Why would..." he snaps his claws. "Oh course! How silly of me. It's a trap. But what manner of beast would be stupid enough to fall for it? I mean...its so obvious..."
The fox pauses as his stomach growls, "Obviously I am no idiot so maybe if I'm carefull..."
A moment later there is a loud SNAP followed by much cursing as the fox is lifted high into the air by a snar about his foot paw.
Idiot indeed...

Ginger jumped when she heard the loud noise and the cursing.
"Hello? Everything alright?"
She began walking towards where the crash came from.

Round and round the fox goes, arms crossed as he dangles upside down by a snar wrapped around his leg. "Of all the slimy, no good, rotton...when I find the low down varment who laid this trap so help me I will-" the fox's eyes widen as he spots the newcomer, a look of horror growing more and more with each rotation of the rope.
"Ah! No! Please! This isn't what it looks like! Don't turn me into a hat!" the fox tries to wriggle his way out of the rope, only succeeding in swaying back and forth like a pendulum.

Approaching the figure hanging from the large oak, Ginger couldn't help but snicker. She covered her mouth to keep from laughing, watching the fox swing back and forth. When she came closer, she tried to keep a straight face infront of the scared fox.
"Whoa, calm down! I'm not looking for a new hat, I've got one lying around somewhere and I don't need another one. How did you even get yourself in that situation?"

"You mean this isn't your trap? And you are not here to collect my hide?" the fox spins in silence for a long moment. "Oh." He says simply. "Well then my dear if you would be so kind as to help me out of this..."
He continues to swing and sway, clutching his mouth as he does and almost gagging, "Prefferably soon..."

She slyly began to walk circles around the poor fox, despite her usually friendly nature.
"How do I know you won't try to steal my things or harm me if I do cut you down."
She began twirling her lance in her paws.

The fox can't help but stare at the hare or rather her lance. Loosening his collar with a paw the fox chuckles nervously, "Me? Steal from you? Hardly. I'm just your average humble woodland fox." he holds out both arms in in an awkward up side down shrug, "Honestly, do I look threatening from here? Tell you who IS threatening is who ever laid out this trap. He was targetting vermin, and I would rather not find out why..." he rubs at his wrists.

She huffs a little but makes up her mind and uses her lance to slash through the rope, causing him to fall to the ground. 'Maybe I shouldn't have cut him down. There's so many evil beasts running around the woods these days it's hard to trust anyone anymore.' She thought, bending down over the fox. 'Maybe he isn't evil? He doesn't necessarily look like he could harm anyone. The most harm he could probably do is steal someones lunch.' "Sorry, are you alright? I should've warned you before I cut the rope. What's your name?"

The fox lays there, tail end draped over his head in a rather painfull looking C shape to his body. "In major pain..." the fox grunts. He rolls to one side then sits up on his haunches, "No worries, landed on my head. That's my least vulnerable spot," he says rubbing the side of his head, "Ermile. Baro Ermile. Thank you for rescue miss. Most beasts would have just left me there..."

She smiled and offered a paw to help him up. "Well, I suppose it's good that I'm not like most beasts. I'm Ginger. Here, let's go get you something for your head."
((i swear shes not trying to be like "i'm not like most girls"))

((XD))
Rubbing his head the fox winces, "I think my head will live." he stands up, "So if you are not out here setting traps for wayward foxes, what are you doing out here alone?"
The question is, is she really alone? Or is there going to be a horde of hares about to jump out and rob him? Probibly not since it would have been easier to not cut him down.
Yet the hare doesn't seem to be packing heavy for a long trip. "Is there a settlement near by?"
A settlement is just what the fox needs! A big city with food, ale, gambling, food!
And a place to hide...

"...My brother and I have been staying over at Redwall until that wildcat and his horde aren't a problem anymore. I...don't know if they'll take kindly to a fox like yourself at such times of trouble. I was just taking a walk; securing the perimeter and such. Earning my keep and all."

The fox figets an ear. Earning her keep? Ugh! Work!
An abbey? He would rather hide in a viper's nest. Especially if they expected him to 'earn' his keep. It wasn't free if you had to work for it!
Unless he made someone else work for it...
"Sounds like a pleasent place to go...for woodlanders. I think I will take you're advice and find someplace else to lodge for the night. The fox's stomach growls all on its own despite the perfect timing. He cringes, "Pitty too...I've run out of food and it's such a long jouney."
For a moment he looks forelorn, then he brightens up and snaps his fingers, "Oh! I know! I could pay you to bring me some provisions!" his happy smile fades quickly, "Or at least could...if I had money to pay you with."
He sniffles turning away from the hare, "Besides, you have already shown me enough kindness, I couldn't /possibly/ ask for more from you..." he stifles a smile and chuckle, trying to sound as lost and forlorn as possible.
